CHRONICA — World History for Grown-Ups is a multilingual media outlet that unpacks the history, economics, and geopolitics behind today's news as stories, with sources. Most of what gets reported each day — conflicts, energy, currencies, technology — rests on chains of cause and effect that stretch back decades or even a century. CHRONICA works to untangle those threads and tell them as a single narrative that answers one question: why is the world the way it is today?

What we're for

Middle East oil, semiconductors, currencies, the World Cup — we connect events that look unrelated into a single, joined-up story. We turn modern history, so often taught in fragments, into long-form reading for adults. We are not a breaking-news service and we do not campaign for a position. Our role is to take events that have already happened, set them in order after the dust has settled, and give readers the background and structure they need to understand them calmly.

Editorial policy

CHRONICA places the balance between "an engaging story" and "factual accuracy" at the center of its editing. Articles build on well-established facts; basic facts such as dates, proper nouns, and figures are checked against multiple sources. For contested or disputed matters we avoid flat assertions, using phrasing such as "is said to," "was reported," or "views differ," and we do not steer readers toward a particular side or trade in conspiratorial certainty. Our aim is to give readers the material to understand the background for themselves.

Sources and fact-checking

As a rule, each article cites multiple sources — books, materials from public institutions, reporting, and encyclopedias. Figures and quotations are traced back to primary sources or reliable secondary sources, and we avoid assertions that rest on hearsay alone. When quoting what a person said, we limit ourselves to statements we could verify from the record, and we do not invent unverifiable quotes or operation names.
