CHRONICA (“we,” “this site”) respects your privacy and handles personal and usage information according to the policy below.

Account and information we collect

When you use member features (all-you-can-read and series purchases), we collect:

  • Email address — for login (passwordless magic link) and contact. Required to register.
  • Profile (optional) — name/nickname, birth year, gender, region, topics of interest, and how you found us. All optional; member features work without them. Used mainly in aggregate to improve our content.
  • Billing and usage — membership status, purchase history, and limited reading activity, to provide the service.

Newsletter subscription

Separately from membership, we offer a free email newsletter. To subscribe we collect only your email address (no name is required). We use it solely to send updates such as new articles and new series, and we never sell it or share it with third parties without your consent. Subscriptions use double opt-in (you become a subscriber only after clicking the link in a confirmation email), and you can unsubscribe at any time via the "unsubscribe" link in the footer of any newsletter or confirmation email; we stop sending promptly thereafter. This service is intended for adult readers and is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, children under 13. If we learn a child has subscribed by mistake, we will delete the information on request. Delivery uses Resend (email) and subscription state is stored securely on Cloudflare (data storage), as described below.

How we use information

We use it to (1) authenticate members and provide reading/purchases, (2) process payments, (3) respond to inquiries, and (4) improve content and the service through aggregate analytics.

Third-party processors

To provide the service, we share information as needed with:

  • Stripe (payments) — we do not store card details; Stripe processes them securely (Stripe Privacy Policy).
  • Resend (email) — uses your email address to send login links and notices.
  • Cloudflare (hosting and data storage).

Retention, deletion, and access

We retain account data while your membership is active and as required by law. To close your account, delete your data, or request the data we hold, contact us below; we respond after verifying your identity.

Advertising

This site may use third-party advertising services such as Google AdSense. These providers may use cookies to serve ads based on your interests. For details and opt-out options, see Google's advertising policies. You can disable personalized advertising via Google Ad Settings.

Cookies

Cookies are small pieces of data stored in your browser. We may use cookies to improve usability and to support advertising and analytics. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may stop working.
